One of the most impressive things that you can do to build a business relationship is to remember special dates such as anniversaries and birthdays of your associates and colleagues.

It’s really not that difficult either, with your devices loaded with so much information already, you can simply log in nearly anywhere, at anytime and have it at your fingertips. Today’s technology is poised to help you with this with very little effort and a measurable result.

To stand out, go “old school” and send an actual card a few days in advance, or make an early morning personal call on someone’s birthday. It is often the small difference between a business acquaintance and a business relationship.

Setting up your organizer to get a reminder of someone else’s special day is simple, thoughtful and downright, smart. You can make it a regular part of the information gathering routine. Quietly and unassumingly you have the key dates handy, and when it arrives, the reminder pops up on your calendar and you appear to be way ahead of the game.

Input these dates right along with your deadlines for projects and important meetings and be sure to follow up. Before long, you’ll develop a reputation as a person who is concerned with other people, not just yourself and not just in other people’s money. If you have to have a reputation, that is a great one to have.
